Amnesty International is a worldwide movement which is independent of any government, political grouping, ideology, economic interest or religious creed.

Band Club

The Marching Band incorporates musicians, color guard and silks. They have practices after school in the fall and spring, and perform at football games as well as field show competitions.

Sailing Club

School club is open to SPHS students interested in meeting once a month to learn the technical and tactical aspects of sailing and racing  in a classroom setting.
School club can also serve as a conduit for students who are interested in sailing with the AYC Junior Fleet program which provides coaching for Severna Park, Annapolis, Indian Creek, St. Mary's high school students.  Practice takes place during the week to prepare for regattas on the weekends.
Racing with the AYC Junior Fleet program is an opportunity for students at the same high school to compete together, against students of other high schools through the AYC Junior Fleet program.
AYC Junior Fleet program is a private program not affiliated with Anne Arundel county public schools.

Botball Team

The primary purpose of this team is to design, build and program autonomous robots to compete against other schools. -

Calculus Club

Dance Club

The Severna Park High School Dance Club is open to all students who "love to dance". Dancers will have the opportunity to perform in the Fall and Spring Dance Performance

Dance Company/Team

The Severna Park High School Dance Company performs at various events and concerts throughout the school year and the community.

DECA

The mission of DECA, Inc. is to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interest in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. DECA helps students to develop skills and competence for marketing careers, to build self-esteem, to experience leadership and to practice community service. DECA is committed to the advocacy of marketing education and the growth of business/education partnerships.

Ebony Cultural Club

Ebony provides an opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the tremendous contributions made by minorities to American and world culture.

Embers (Yearbook)

Yearbook I, II, III, IV is a one or two semester elective that creates the SPHS yearbook. Offered in the fall or spring, this student run publication writes, designs, edits, and publishes this award winning publication.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Huddle (Club) through fellowship and around the bond of sports, reaches out to peers and those they influence with the message of faith and hope. It is an inter-denominational fellowship group.

Fly Fishing Club

The purpose of the Fly Fishing Club is to instruct students and staff in all acpects of fly fishing.  Aspects of fly fishing will include casting, entomology, presenting the fly, fly selection, locating fish, conservation, and fly tying.  Studnets will plan various after school fly fishing expeditions.  The Fly Fishing Club is for anyone who enjoys fishing and wants to expand their fish catching capabilities.
  
French Club
Advisor:
Le Cercle Français introduces students to French culture in a super fun way. Come join us the third Thursday of the month for a variety of activities that highlight French holiday traditions, cuisine, music, crafts and more. Vive le francais!

German Club
Advisor:
The German Club is open to all students. Students will learn about German customs and holidays, as well as come to appreciate the German influence and heritage in the U.S..

Impulse Literary & Arts magazine

Impulse is Severna Park High School's magazine of expression. Any student producing writing (poetry, short stories, plays, essays, music, etc.), art or photography is invited to contribute. Also welcome are students with an interest in production, promotion or sales.

Indoor Guard
Advisor: Ms. Garczynski
The Indoor Guard uses flags, rifles, sabres, and body movement to interpret prerecorded music while performing on a gymnasium floor. During the winter season, the group competes throughout Central Pennsylvania and Western Maryland.

International Thespian Society

Intramurals

Intramurals offers an opportunity for all students to participate in a variety of physical activities after school. Activities may include Frisbee, basketball, tennis, softball, aerobics, weight training, volley ball, etc.

It's Academic

The It's Academic club prepares for and competes on the It's Academic show on WJZ-TV, matching wits against high school teams from the Baltimore area on a wide variety of subjects.

Key Club

The Key Club is a "student-led" service organization . The Key Club is unique because a local Kiwanis Club, composed of the leading business and professional people of the community, sponsors it.

Math Team

Math team participates in five competitions against other county schools held at AACC on Saturday mornings during the school year. Up to fifteen students may go to each competition.

Mock Trial Team

The Mock Trial Team competes in statewide mock trial contests that pit various schools in a real life situation. This program is sponsored by the Maryland Bar Association. SPHS was undefeated County Champions for the 2002-03 season!

The National Honor Society honors the academic and extracurricular achievements of Juniors and Seniors who have attended Severna Park High at least one semester. National Art Honor Society

The National Art Honor Society is open to students that have taken at least one Visual Art class in high school and earned a B or better. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month (other times as needed). We promote Art through various activities such as: the NAHS sponsored Calendar contest/ fund raiser, organization and execution of the Community Art Show and creation of personal art and development of a personal portfolio. Visual Art Scholarship Contest available to eligible participants.

Philosophy Club

The purpose of the SPHS Philosophy Club is to give students a chance broaden their knowledge of and appreciation for Philosophy, as well as to sharpen their skills in logic and rhetoric.  Philosophy Club meets to read about and discuss topics from a wide range of branches and schools of Philosophy.  The club tries to make Philosophy accessible and fun for students of all grades and abilities, and to promote Philosophical dialogue and greater awareness of Philosophy in everyday life.  Students have the opportunity to participate in a national student Philosophy competition. 
The group meets Mondays after school in the upper Media Center of SPHS.



SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions)

This organization educates students on the dangers of alcohol and drugs and the importance of making positive decisions. Students work with each other and the community to provide awareness to others.

Silks

The Silks (flag line) accompany the Marching Band on all their travels, providing visual entertainment on the field. Any person wishing to become a Silk must audition in the spring.

Spanish Honor Society

The Spanish Honor Society recignizes higha chievement of students in the Spanish language, and promotes a continuing interest in Hispanic studies.  Opened to members enrolled in Spanish IV or higher with eligible GPA.

Stage Crew

The Stage Crew is the place to be - lights, sound, set construction or any other technical support necessary. The crew does it all for school and community organizations.

Student Government Association

As the representative voice of the student body, the SGA deals with concerns of all students. Officers are elected from the SGA in May. Any student may submit a petition to serve as a delegate to the SGA.

Talon (Newspaper)

The Talon is Severna Park High School's official student newspaper which exists as a forum for students' views and interests. The newspaper is a credit class which publishes seven issues each year.

Tri-M Music Honor Society

Tri-M is the international honor society recognizing secondary music students for their musical ability, academic excellence, school involvement, and community service.  Tri-M is open to any student who is enrolled in a performing music class for the entire year.  Students must maintain a 3.5 weighted average and must maintain an A average in performing ensembles.  Applications are accepted in September.
