ANNOUNCEMENTS  

Come support the band, Panic Switch, who will be representing SPHS in the county battle of the bands at Maryland Hall on January 24th.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from Noah Young or Jason Bellanca or online at www.aabattle.com.  All proceeds will directly benefit the music programs of the four winning schools!  Hope to see you there Severna Park!!

Students who have already submitted permission slips to attend the Biomedical Engineering Field Trip, will have a brief, required, ten minute meeting after school on Thursday 1/29/15.
 If you cannot attend, please see Mr. Cahoon before that date.

Key Club will be holding officer elections at our February meeting. Our senior officers are ready to pass the baton over to eager, dedicated, new leaders. No experience is needed....just motivation and a willingness to learn. If you are interested in being our secretary, treasurer, editor, vice-president or even PRESIDENT of Key Club see Mrs. Meadows in D116 or Mrs. Stahl in E128 for more information. Nominations are due no later than THIS Friday January 23rd

Mandatory internship meeting January 28th for the end of the semester

In order to fulfill our obligations for your internship, I have to meet with each student on January 28th.  In the upstairs media center at the end of 2nd and 3rd  periods.  We need to review your file to determine if there is any information missing!

 

Interested in Technology?  Want to create your own apps? Have you heard of Raspberry Pi and Scratch?

Girls Who Code is an exciting new after school club starting March 2nd.  We will meet Mondays in upper media. 

Space is limited so please see Mrs. Fitzgerald or Mrs. Schnabel for an application.

 

YES!!! You can still sign up to be part of the Polar Bear Plunge on Jan 30th to benefit Special Olympics Maryland! You only need to raise $50.00 for Special Olympics to go on this school sponsored field trip to Sandy Point State Park and participate in the Plunge! Hundreds of Students from Broadneck, South River, Annapolis, Chesapeake, and Old Mill will be there! Help us make SPHS the “coolest” school and come plunge with us! Forms and permission slips are available in the main office, outside G244, and outside E125. You can sign up until January 28th!

Attention all Seniors:  Scholarships for Scholars is a non-profit organization that rewards academic excellence in Anne Arundel County and has awarded 2.4 million dollars to graduating seniors since its inception.  Qualifications include applicants who have demonstrated exceptional abilities in specific areas of study and who have contributed to the community at large.  For more information about Scholarships for Scholars please visit the NAVIANCE website or see Mrs. Hogue in the Counseling Center.  The Deadline is February 3rd.”

Valentines messages are on sale!

Pick up forms in Ms. Earhart’s room (D206) starting Monday January 12th.  Messages cost $1.00 per word, not including your name and the name of the recipient.  Forms and payment can be turned in to Ms. Earhart at any time and will be collected during lunches February 2nd-February 5th.  ALL FORMS AND PAYMENTS ARE DUE BY FEBRUARY 5TH!  Anonymous messages are not allowed.  Inappropriate messages will be excluded. 

Wanna see Rock’n’Roll Revival XXVI? There will be a special SPHS Student Pre-sale on Thursday Jan 29 and Fri Jan 30 during all lunches. Tickets are $15 and there is a limit of 4 per student.  Checks are payable to SPHS.  Get your tickets before they sell out at General Public Sales starting February 2!  Rock on Falcons!!!!

 

The Celebration of the Arts Evening is coming Feb 13th !  

Ticket will go on sale Thursday Jan 8th during lunches.  The tickets are $10.00, your $10.00 will get one wonderful painting or drawing or ceramic tile created by one of our many talented Severna Park Artist and if you are a National Honor Society member and need merits you will receive 2 merits for the $10.00 ticket.  Or you can purchase a $5.00 ticket and receive 1 merit.  

So come on out and support the Fine Arts community by joining us for an evening of light refreshments, Dance, and Musical entertainment.
